In a momentous celebration of its 200-year heritage, The Macallan has unveiled its oldest release to date—a remarkable 84-year-old single malt Scotch. This rare vintage, part of the TIME : SPACE Collection, is an homage to the distillery’s storied past and visionary future. The 1940 expression, drawn from a unique dual-chambered decanter, is paired with a milestone release from The Macallan’s new distillery, symbolising a journey through time.

The collection is thoughtfully designed to encapsulate the essence of The Macallan’s dedication to craftsmanship and nature. Described as “representing time travel between past and future,” the collection speaks to the brand’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Limited to just 200 pieces, this collection reflects The Macallan’s legacy, with whisky sourced from two carefully selected casks: a first fill American Oak Butt and a second fill European Oak Butt. Both casks were seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, before spending 84 years maturing in Speyside. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, this exquisite whisky has developed a rich, natural colour, a depth of flavor, and an extraordinary complexity that only time can create.

Complementing this historic release is the 2018 vintage—the first whisky to come from The Macallan’s newly constructed distillery. The juxtaposition of these two spirits within the same decanter emphasises the brand’s forward-thinking approach while honouring its past.

The decanter itself is a work of art, displayed in an intricately crafted oak sculpture. Its design highlights the natural hues of the liquid within, with alternating layers of American and European oak—a tribute to The Macallan’s dedication to sherry-seasoned oak casks.

The Macallan has also unveiled a secondary release, the TIME : SPACE Mastery. This single malt honours past whisky masters, blending from a selection of 14 exceptional oak casks. Available through The Macallan Society Ballot in the UK and Europe, it captures the essence of The Macallan’s deep expertise and artistry in whisky making.
